The Beginning: 1950-1991

From Front Street to Third Street

Vogue Swift’s Founder, Mahlon Fauss, had worked in the dry cleaning
business for four years before he first opened Vogue Cleaners on Front
Street in Marietta in 1950 (for just eighty dollars’ rent, if you can
believe it!).
He later opened a second location, Swift Cleaners, in the
Frontier Shopping Center.

As business flowed into the shopping center
so did most of the dry cleaning business, so Mahlon regrouped and
combined Vogue Cleaners with Swift Cleaners now forming Vogue-Swift
Cleaners in the early seventies. Maintaining a strong presence in the
shopping center could only offer so much. As a prominent business
leader, Mahlon knew there was one more big step to take in order to
accomplish his ultimate goal as a business owner—that was owning his
own building.

In 1991, founder Mahlon took a leap of faith and moved his
operation to a newly renovated facility at 120 Third Street where
Vogue Swift still operates today.

A History of Tradition

Adam and Andy Fenton
Adam & Andy Fenton

Now, nearly seventy years later, Mahlon’s two grandsons, Adam and
Andy Fenton, carry on the dry cleaning tradition established by their
grandfather.

As a professional dry cleaner, Adam utilizes his
expertise to make sure every garment that comes through Vogue Swift
comes out flawless. Adam has nearly 20 years of dry cleaning
experience and continues to look for new and innovative ways to
improve plant operations. Over the years, Adam has been able to
purchase and implement state-of -the art equipment. This has enabled
Vogue Swift to run a more efficient workflow while being
environmentally sound. Please see the Eco Friendly page for more
details on our environmentally friendly process.

Adam’s younger
brother, Andy Fenton, joined the business as the company’s CFO. In
addition to managing the financial operations, Andy looks to develop
new marketing and management strategies to ensure that Vogue Swift
remains the Valley’s premier dry cleaner.

Where there were once twelve
dry cleaners in town, today Vogue Swift is the only operating full
service dry cleaner in the area. Adam and Andy are proud to continue
their grandfather’s legacy. By bringing new energy, new ideas, and
new technologies to the table, they continue to keep Vogue Swift Inc.
moving in the right direction to serve Mid Ohio Valley for future
generations.
